Red Dead holds off Super Mario in UK charts

Fourth week at the top for Rockstar, although Mario leads in individual SKU unit sales

Rockstar's western classic Red Dead Redemption has claimed a fourth week at the top of the UK all format charts, denying new release Super Mario Galaxy 2 a number one debut.

With sales for Red Dead down by 34 per cent the fight for the number one spot was close, with Chart-Track reporting only a few thousand sales separating the two.

Single format title Super Mario Galaxy 2 was the number one selling individual SKU of the week though and following the normal pattern of Nintendo releases in the UK would be expected to record increased sales in subsequent weeks.

Nintendo DS puzzle title Rooms: The Main Building can already be seen to be following this pattern, moving up eight places to number four with a 76 per cent increase in sales.

There has been little other movement of note in the top 10 though, with EA's World Cup game holding strong at number three and evergreen titles such as Just Dance, Wii Fit Plus and Modern Warfare 2 moving just one place at most.

The only other major new release of the week is Green Day: Rock Band from MTV Games/EA. The standalone title enters at number 14 in the all formats chart, with 57 per cent of sales on the Xbox 360, 26 per cent on the PlayStation 3 and 16 per cent on the Wii.
