Raymond hints at Assassin's Creed for handhelds

Producer interested in expanding franchise

Assassin's Creed producer Jade Raymond has hinted that the highly anticipated stealth game could branch out onto handheld platforms.

The title is new IP for Ubisoft, and the publisher has so far done a good job of marketing the game with well-received promotional videos.

"We want to make a real plan where you can make a game, you make a book, you know, maybe other types of portable games that have complementary experiences," Raymond told Eurogamer TV.

Earlier this week, US retailer GameStop posted a listing for a DS version of the game on its website.

Assassin's Creed has only been officially announced for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but it's expected that the new franchise will be made available for other formats, much like the majority of Ubisoft's portfolio.
