PS2 continues to outsell PlayStation 3 in Japan

Sony's ageing PlayStation 2 console continues to outsell its successor in Japan, according to data from Media Create.

Sales of the PS3 were only 3931 units for the week ended October 26, down from last week's 4725 units. The PlayStation 2 sold 6962 during the same period.

However, sales of Sony's PSP continue to benefit from the recently released PSP 3000 model, with 60,467 units sold.

Nintendo's Wii sold 24,292 units and the DS a further 22,965 units.

Sales of the Xbox 360 for the same period were 7844.
