Over 250,000 iPhone SDK downloads, says Jobs

Over 250,000 people have downloaded the iPhone SDK during the first 95 days, Steve Jobs told the audience at Apple's Worldwide Developers' Conference audience.

According to PC Advisor, Jobs also indicated that more than 25,000 people have applied to the paid developer programme.

Companies such as eBay, Typepad and Sega joined Jobs on stage to show off new applications using the iPhone SDK such as Super Monkey Ball, a location-based social networking tool and a native iPhone blogging client.

eBay's iPhone application was designed over the past five weeks, with Sun claiming that Apple's phone is the number one mobile device for accessing the online auction service.

All of the tools will be available on the Apple's iPhone App Store at launch.

Jobs confirmed that developers would get their first look at OS X Snow Leopard at the conference today. He said that a record 5,200 people are in attendance at this year's WWDC.

"Wish we could have had more, but we sold out," he said.

Jobs concluded his keynote with the specifics: the new 3G iPhones, with 8Gb memory, will be available on July 11 priced between USD 199 and 399.
