New MMO developer KingsIsle unveiled

KingsIsle Entertainment, founded in 2005, has announced its existence and the development of upcoming online projects.

Led by CEO Elie Akilian and president David Nichols, the company has had a team of more than 100 employees in the Austin and Dallas, Texas areas working on MMOs.

Akilian co-founded Inet Technologies and served as its president and CEO until its sale to Tektronix. Nichols most recently served as Midway's senior VP of administration and operations.

"We founded KingsIsle with an approach that fosters ingenuity," said Akilian.

"Our focus is in the online environment and will continue to be so in the future. We've pulled together some of the most creative minds around and given them room to push boundaries and create superlative entertainment experiences."

"We'll continue to build on that base of originality."

Todd Coleman, a key creative mind behind the Shadowbane MMO, is heading up development on the company's first project which is expected to enter beta this spring.

Tom Hall, a co-founder of id Software and ION Storm, is the company's creative director and the head of another release to be announced at a later date.
