Microsoft reveals that 1.5 billion minutes of movie and TV content now viewed

Microsoft has announced that over 1 million Xbox Live users in the US have now downloaded and activated Netflix since in the three months since it was launched in November, with a total viewing time of 1.5 billion minutes being racked up.

"Adding Netflix to our ever-growing library of 30,000 movies and TV shows makes Xbox 360 the best value in home entertainment," said John Schappert, corporate VP in charge of the Live service at Microsoft.

"With over 1 million activations and 1.5 billion minutes watched to date, Netflix is a great win for Xbox living rooms nationwide. These families are getting more entertainment from Xbox 360 than from any other device connected to their TVs."

Additionally Video Marketplace downloads globally rose by 174 per cent between December 2008 and January 2009, with 17,000 pieces of standard and high definition content available.
