NCsoft to distribute MMOs on Steam

City of Heroes, Guild Wars, Lineage franchises available now

MMO developer and publisher NCsoft has partnered with Valve to distribute its line of massively-multiplayer role playing games on the popular Steam distribution platform.

Titles from NCsoft's Guild Wars, City of Heroes and Lineage franchises, comprising seven unique SKUs, are available on Steam today, with prices ranging from USD 9.99 to USD 29.99 for individual games and USD 49.99 for a collection of all three Guild Wars packs.

In addition, NCsoft has announced that its upcoming title Aion: The Tower of Eternity will be available on the service when it is released in the United States and Europe in Fall of this year.

"We are thrilled to offer our franchises to the legions of gamers in the Steam community," said NCsoft West president of publishing David Reid in a statement released today.

"Steam’s community is filled with passionate players intent on having the latest updates on their favorite games. Extending our distribution reach with Steam will allow more gamers the freedom and flexibility to stay updated and engaged with our games and online communities."

This third party online distribution partnership is not the first for NCsoft - a similar deal was struck with online platform Direct2Drive in September of 2005 to distribute both City of Heroes and Lineage II. NCsoft also distributes its titles through its own PlayNC service.
