Namco Networks, the mobile gaming arm of the veteran videogame publisher, has signed an exclusive deal with Japanese network KDDI to publish its games in North America.

The agreement will give Japanese publishers and developers with a presence on KDDI an opportunity to move into Western markets, and provide Namco Networks with a large catalogue of proven titles to chose from.

KDDI recognised Namco's expertise in localising content from Japan as a key factor in the deal. "Partnering with Namco allows us to work with an established leader in the North American mobile market, ensuring the quality of the localisation and successful distribution of our catalogue," said KDDI's Takashi Nagashima.

Namco Networks' president and CEO, Kenji Hisatsune, returned the compliment, saying: "The portfolio of mobile games that KDDI offers has proven to be highly successful in Japan, a trend we anticipate to continue in the US."

The deal follows a similar arrangement between Namco Networks and Japanese mobile gaming outfit G-mode, announced last year.

KDDI is the second largest mobile carrier in Japan, with 25 million subscribers. The puzzle, action and strategy games on its service are based on the BREW platform.
