Mythic latest hit by EA job cuts?

Report suggests another high profile studio affected by $120m cost-cutting plan

Warhammer Online developer Mythic is the latest Electronic Arts studio to be hit by a round of redundancies as the publisher axes jobs to cut costs.

That's according to a report by Joystiq that, "21 customer service employees, half of QA and all of the playtest group were let go," last week.

EA announced last year that it is to shed 1000 positions by the end of March, in a bid to save USD 120 million annually. However, following a number of reports about specific studios, the company has refused on numerous occasions to detail how the redundancies affect its various operations.

It's believed that Pandemic's studio in Australia has been let go, and GamesIndustry.biz has also heard that Pandemic in Los Angeles may also face cuts.

The company also stopped work on a planned studio in Vancouver citing "uncertain times for our industry" in December last year.

EA's Black Box studio has also moved from Vancouver to nearby Burnaby, and there is talk that EA Mobile has also faced a reduction in headcount.

Any official details from Electronic Arts are likely to be revealed in its financial report, due February 3.
