More companies interested in merger, says Take-Two

But no formal offer or negotiations under way

Take-Two has stated that following its rejection of EA's USD 2 billion acquisition offer, the company has received interest from other companies interested in a merger.

However, no formal offers have been received and the publisher is not currently in any negotiations with any companies, according to a report by the Associated Press.

In a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the publisher said there had been "informal indications of interest in a business combination," but the company "has not engaged in any substantive discussions with any party (including EA) with respect to a business combination."

Take-Two said that it will not update shareholders on any merger discussions unless it is legally required to do so.

Earlier this week, analyst Michael Pachter said that he did not believe any other third-party would make a competing bid against Electronic Arts.

Take-Two rejected EA's bid this month calling it "inadequate".
