Metal Gear Online founders under high demand

Metal Gear Online has faced a spate of technical problems since the launch of its add-on pack Gene Expansion.

High user demand crippled Konami's servers causing the closure of the game's MGO Shop and Reward Shop. At times the technical problems even stopped players from being able to log in to the game itself.

Konami attempted to resolve the problem by temporarily blocking randomly selected IP ranges for an hour at a time in order to lighten the load on its servers.

Consequently the "survival" games scheduled to take place over the weekend were cancelled, meanwhile some users even reported that they are still waiting to receive content they paid for from the MGO shop.

GamesIndustry.biz has contacted Konami for further comment.
