McCann reference spotted in new Bungie trailer

Speculation is mounting that the recently released trailer for Bungie's next Halo project features a reference to missing five year-old Madeleine McCann.

Following days of hype, the trailer was released yesterday on Bungie's website, and has since been picked apart by viewers hoping to gleam more information about the studio's next project.

As reported by videogaming247, the message "Maddie, Where Are You?" appears for a few short frames of the video.

Whether a coincidence or something more, debate has kicked off on gaming forums as to whether it is a direct reference to the missing girl, who disappeared in May 2007.

GamesIndustry.biz has contacted Bungie and Microsoft for comment.
