Jagex launches FunOrb casual site

RuneScape dev offers more browser-based gaming

RuneScape developer Jagex has launched a new casual games site, called FunOrb Games.

While the games are casual in nature, the studio hopes to attract a dedicated audience looking for depth and challenge.

"For the first time, there is a generation of experienced gamers, turned young professionals, who want to play and be challenged, but are unable to devote large amounts of free time to gaming," said Jagex CEO Geoff Iddison.

"FunOrb addresses this niche by blending quality entertainment with social functionality, offering players of all levels a complete social gaming experience."

As well as games, the site also features multiplayer lobbies, achievements, league tables, forums and instant messaging.

Already available in English and German, Jagex hopes to add more languages throughout 2008 and into 2009.
