Iwata: No Wii or DS price cuts this year

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has said that the company is not likely to cut the price of its market-leading Wii and DS games consoles this year.

"Our earnings projection for the year is not based on hardware price cuts, and I don't think we are going to need them," said Iwata, reports Reuters.

Nintendo's fourth quarter results released this week showed the company has sold 18.6 million Wii units over the past 12 months, bringing worldwide sales to date to 24.4 million units.

Sales for the company were up 73 per cent across the fiscal year, while operating income was up 115.6 per cent and profit up 47.7 per cent.
