iPhone 3GS sales top 1 million

As over 6 million download 3.0 software for Apple's handheld

Sales of the iPhone 3GS have passed one million units in three days, according to Apple.

The company also confirmed that over six million users have downloaded the iPhone 3.0 software in the first five days of availability.

"Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning," offered Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple. "With over 50,000 applications available from Apple’s revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever."

Apple claims the iPhone 3GS is twice as fast as the previous iPhone model, and features longer battery life, a 3 megapixel camera, video and hands-free voice control.

The 3.0 software adds over 100 new features to the iPhone, including Copy and Paste and MMS functions.
