Image Metrics appoints new chief operating officer
The computer animation company, Image Metrics, has appointed Michael Starkenburg to the position of chief operating officer.
Starkenburg served as a consultant to the company, which specialises in facial animation, over the past year and will now provide the leadership for all operations in the US and UK.
"Consumers are demanding high-quality, believable CG content, while studios are searching for more cost-effective ways of meeting that demand," said Starkenburg.
"Image Metrics is perfectly positioned to help studios balance these needs with its innovative performance-driven facial animation technology and its extensive experience in both film production and game development," he added.
Image Metrics' marker and makeup free facial animation technology has been used by Activision, EA, Rockstar Games and Sony Imageworks.
