id Software latest to quit ESA
Doom and Quake creator id Software is the latest high-profile company to quit America's Entertainment Software Association.
The development studio follows Activision, Vivendi and LucasArts in abandoning the trade group.
As well as acting as the trade body and representing the games business publicly, the ESA also organises the annual E3 event, being held this year at the LA Convention Centre.
"We can confirm that id Software has decided not to renew its membership in the ESA," offered senior vice president of the ESA Rich Taylor.
"We admire their creativity and innovation. We also respect their decision."
