Home to go live in Asia this autumn

Sony's Home application for the PlayStation 3 will launch in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan this autumn.

A closed beta test for the ambitious social networking software will begin in the region next month, with users invited to apply for the beta from August 29.

The service is expected to go live in other regions at roughly the same time this year, after failing to meet its initial launch period of last October.

Sony has maintained the launch of Home will be low key compared to blockbuster game releases. However, anticipation for the service is high, as it forms part of Sony's concentrated effort to capture online social gaming audiences on the PS3, along with the SingStar brand and forthcoming title LittleBigPlanet.
