Hell's Highway and SoulCalibur IV boost Ubisoft Q2 sales 37.3 per cent

Publisher raises its yearly target to USD 1.34 billion

Ubisoft has reported that its sales for the second-quarter totalled EUR 175 million (USD 224 million), up from EUR 127 million (USD 162 million) posted during the same time last year.

The publisher's overall sales for the first half of the 2008-09 financial year are EUR 344 million (USD 440 million), up by 38.3 per cent year-on-year. The company said it owed much of it sales growth to the performance of Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway and SoulCalibur IV for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

"Ubisoft delivered a robust performance in the second fiscal quarter against an uncertain environment. We are carefully and regularly monitoring changes in the economic context in order to factor them into our market forecasts and financial targets," said Yves Guillemot, CEO.

"Going forward, we are confident that the video game industry will be able to continue its dynamic growth in 2008 and 2009, buoyed by the increase in the installed base for consoles coupled with the steady influx of new consumers. At the same time, we believe that thanks to the diversity and quality of Ubisoft's games line-up, which caters to both hardcore and casual gamers' we are ideally positioned to continue to win market share in the coming years."

Ubisoft further announced that it is raising its targets for full year of 2008-09 to around EUR 1.05 billion (USD 1.34 billion) compared with the previous figure of around EUR 1.02 billion (USD 1.3 billion). The company also revealred that it will delay the release of its upcoming game, Anno, along with an as yet unannounced title to bolster its 2009-10 line-up.
