GTA IV trailer hits the web

Latest instalment will be set in New York

The first trailer for the highly anticipated new instalment in the Grand Theft Auto series was released by Rockstar Games at midnight last night.

As the trailer confirms, Grand Theft Auto IV is set in New York and the main character appears to be of Eastern European origin.

There are plenty of famous landmarks featured, such as the Chrysler building and the Statue of Liberty, and it would appear that the trailer uses game footage rather than pre-rendered cinematics.

More than 10,000 people viewed the trailer on GamesIndustry.biz sister site Eurogamer TV during the first hour it was available. Click here to take a look.

Grand Theft Auto IV is due out on PS3 and Xbox 360 in October.
