GT5 Prologue pre-orders nearing 1 million in Europe

48 million games sold in GT series to date

A week ahead of its release, pre-orders for the European version of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue are nearing 1 million.

The news was first reported by GeekPulp, who said that pre-orders had exceeded one million - citing SCE New Zealand as the source.

SCEE has confirmed to our sister site Eurogamer.net that GT5 Prologue has "almost" been pre-ordered one million times across all SCEE territories.

If the figures hold true, this will be the first time that a PS3 title has racked up 1 million in sales - and thereby achieved Platinum status - before it has even been released.

Sony has sold more than 48 million games in the Gran Turismo series to date.
