GfK acquires Chart-Track

European charts specialist GfK International has acquired Chart-Track, the outfit responsible for weekly chart data in the UK and Ireland.

GfK now owns 55 per cent of Chart-Track. Through the Media Control GfK International group, the firm is responsible for weekly charts and sales data in European regions such as France, Germany and Spain.

"We are delighted to be joining the GfK Group," commented John Pinder, MD of the newly named GfK Chart-Track Limited.

"We're confident this will provide us with a solid platform for future growth and we look forward to further developing our range of services.

"Most importantly, the ability to plug into GfK ’s strong international network will be a terrific benefit to our clients."

Chart-Track generated sales of almost EUR 1.8 million in 2007. The Irish Recorded Music Association and the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association own the remaining 45 per cent of Chart-Track.
