Gamigo to enter North American market

Hamburg-based games business opens first foreign office in New York

Online games publisher and distributor Gamigo has announced its plan to enter the North American online gaming market later this year.

The Hamburg-based company said that the move would be initiated with the opening of its first foreign office in New York.

From there, it intends to find business and media partners to collaborate with, and hopes to roll out its first games in the territory in the second quarter of 2010.

"This New York office is a continuation of our international expansion. Thanks to the experience we have gained over the past few years in Europe, we are very well-equipped to tackle the North American market. Top-quality products planned for global publication will be announced and presented at the GDC," said Gamigo board exec Patrick Streppel.

Gamigo was founded in 2000 and has since expanded its online games offering from MMOs to casual games. Sales in 2009 rose by 233 per cent, say the company. And in the last year it has more than tripled its employee base.
