GAME promotes Gibbs and Brennan to managing directors

Retailer ready to grow High Street brands in '08

The Game Group has promoted Martyn Gibbs to managing director of Gamestation, and Tricia Brennan to managing director of GAME UK and Ireland.

The move follows the completion of GAME's acquisition of rival High Street retailer Gamestation, which was finally cleared by the Competition Commission early this year.

"I am delighted that Tricia and Martyn will be leading GAME and Gamestation at such an exciting time of ongoing growth in the UK," said Lisa Morgan, CEO of The Game Group.

"They are both highly experienced leaders and retailers and have already made enormous contributions to the Group. I am confident that they will lead GAME and Gamestation to ever greater success, ensuring that both brands deliver a strong and exciting offer for their customers."

Yesterday, retail analyst Oriel Securities pointed to a positive future for GAME, highlighting its strengths in customer loyalty, pre-owned games and overall share of the software sales market.

"Recent acquisitions and store openings in overseas markets will ensure a very strong contribution to group profits, particularly in the context of the robust nature of underlying demand for Wii and PS3," said the firm.
