Gaikai signs EA deal

Cloud gaming service to feature Medal of Honor, Battlefield, Mass Effect, more

David Perry's Gaikai cloud gaming service has announced that it has signed a deal with Electronic Arts to include a number of titles from the publisher's key PC franchises.

The deal will include games from The Sims, Mass Effect, Medal of Honor, Dragon Age, Battlefield: Bad Compny and Need for Speed.

"EA has some of the most important franchises in the videogame industry, and we're excited to be able to use our streaming technology to help new audiences discover these amazing properties," said Perry, CEO of the cloud company. "We are also excited to be powering a cutting-edge digital strategy with EA developers."

And EA's chief creative director, Richard Hilleman, added: "Gaikai's innovations open whole new experiences for both current players and new customers looking for the best of interactive entertainment.

"It also brings new opportunities and capabilities that will improve both our craft and products, including secure beta-testing and the ability to instantaneously bring the latest games into the hands of our waiting audience."

Gaikai is one of the main players in the cloud gaming space, and allows publishers to place their games in web browsers, where consumers can play instantly with one click.

More information on Gaikai can be found in our last interview with Perry - and we'll have more details in the next few weeks.
