Funcom secures $30 million funding

Conan developer looking to expand into casual MMO market

MMO developer Funcom has secured a further USD 30 million in funding.

The funding comes ahead of the anticipated release of the Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, due for release at the end of October.

"We're expecting the launch of Age of Conan to create significant waves in the MMO gamespace," commented Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas.

"With the secured additional funding Funcom is in an even better position to make the launch of the game a success. This commitment from the financial market is reflecting the great promise and expectations for Age of Conan."

The developer has also revealed intentions to enter the casual MMO sector, with the USD 30 million available to fund near-term acquisitions.
