Eurogamer Network appoints Garratt as publisher

New community and French sites on the way

Eurogamer Network, publisher of GamesIndustry.biz and consumer site Eurogamer.net, has promoted former business development manager Patrick Garratt to the role of publisher.

The move marks the start of a further push into the consumer space, with community website Eurogamers about to launch and a French edition of Eurogamer currently in development.

Garratt will oversee the company's consumer editorial operations and will take responsibility for traffic growth, partnership development and editorial management.

"Eurogamer Network's dedication to product quality, to hiring the best staff available and to delivering unfailing commitment to both its sites and users will always ensure thought-leadership in a market generally filled with dross," Garratt said.

"I have absolute faith in our sites, our editorial staff, our European partners, our technical team and our strategic management to take Eurogamer's consumer business to a position of clear market leadership in the European space."

Founded in 1999, Eurogamer.net is visited by more than 1.3 million unique users per month (source: ABCE audit). It is the only videogames website with independently audited traffic figures.

Along with a German edition of the site and Eurogamer TV, Eurogamer Network also publishes business sites GamesIndustry.biz and MobileIndustry.biz.

"Eurogamer's consumer business is already hugely successful, but the potential as we fully move into Europe - building on the achievements in Germany with Eurogamer.de - is incredible," said Garratt.

"Adding the Eurogamers community offering into what is already a superb consumer portfolio will lift Eurogamer and its European partner sites to an entirely new level."
