Eurogamer launches French franchise
New local team adds to UK and German teams for an enhanced European offering
The Eurogamer Network has announced the launch of a French-language edition of the site, www.eurogamer.fr.
The franchise, the result of a partnership between the Eurogamer Network and Paris-based publisher Microscoop, will be headed by Laurent Guerder, editor in chief, and Jerome Bohbot, deputy editor in chief.
Guerder explained that the decision to partner with the Eurogamer brand was one of quality: "We are very proud to be associated with Eurogamer's expansion because we have always been great fans of Eurogamer.net's editorial quality. Our target is for Eurogamer.fr to become one of the very best French game sites."
Eurogamer Network publisher Patrick Garratt added: "Using existing local titles as leverage, along with a huge amount of experience and talent from both the French management and editorial staff, Eurogamer.fr is sure to be a success."
The launch follows the successful addition of Eurogamer.de to the network in August, and gives publishers the opportunity to work across three key local markets in one straightforward step.
The Eurogamer Network is also the publisher of GamesIndustry.biz.
