EUK "still operating as a business"
Deloitte, the administrator of the troubled retailer Woolworths and it's distribution business Entertainment UK, has told GamesIndustry.biz that the UK distributor is still talking with publishers on "normal trading terms" following meetings and conversations with all major customers.
EUK, taken under administration by the professional services firm, is still "operating as a business", according Deloitte's Jamie Harley, who further explained that the company has already received a number of expressions of interest in buying the distributor.
"Deloitte as an administrator has only been appointed for just over 24 hours and our first priority is to stabilise the business to communicate with suppliers, customers, and employees, which we've been doing," Harley explained.
"On the EUK side the administrators either met with or spoke to all of the major customers yesterday afternoon… and we talked to all of the customers and suppliers on normal trading terms."
When asked if that meant it was still operating as a normal business and for how long that would be the case, Harley replied: "That's correct the EUK is still operating as a business."
"Part of our role as administrator is to seek a buyer for the business," he commented, in reference to the distributor's future, adding: "and what we can say is that we're receiving a substantial number of expressions of interest to both the Woolworth stores and EUK business."
Earlier this week, it was revealed that both the retailer Woolworths and Entertainment UK had gone into administration, with Delloite signed on to take over the day-to-day running of the company.
EUK supplies some of the UK's largest store chains including Zavvi, Morrisons, Tesco and WHSmith.
