ELSPA disappointed with budget

Positive discussions continuing with the Treasury

ELSPA has responded to the budget statement released today by UK Chancellor Alistair Darling.

Last week, Tiga urged the government to introduce tax breaks for game production in the UK in order to level the playing field against unfair competition.

Commenting on today's budget statement, ELSPA director general Paul Jackson said: "We are disappointed that the Chancellor missed the opportunity today to offer French style tax breaks to UK developers."

Nevertheless, he was optimistic that such measures could be taken in the future.

"However, positive discussions continue with the Treasury and we are hopeful of persuading them of the economic argument to support our case in due course," Jackson said.
