Eidos laying off its US staff?

According to a variety of news outlets Eidos is set to lay off a significant number of staff in the US, following Friday's news that SCi has partnered with Warner Bros and the media giant will take care of US distribution.

According to 1UP the whole of the Eidos PR, marketing and sales divisions were being slashed.

That move follows on from initial restructuring that saw the cancellation of 14 projects and the loss of 25 per cent of the company's workforce in a bid to cut costs.

SCi saw 17 per cent wiped off its share price immediately following the Warner announcement on Friday, but the stock has rallied slightly and currently sits up around 2 per cent at 47.75 pence.

SCi declined to comment on the story.

Update:GamesIndustry.biz has contacted a senior public relations manager at Eidos' San Francisco office but was told that the company would not be providing an official comment beyond last Friday's press release.
