EB Games to acquire The Gamesman retail chain?

EB Games, part of the worldwide GameStop retail chain, is to acquire New Zealand outfit The Gamesman.

That's according to a report on GeekPulp, which states that eight stores will be rebranded as EB Games by the end of July.

GameStop already has a presence in New Zealand, and following a rise in earnings of 82 per cent for the 2007 fiscal year, the company stated it intends to establish as many as 600 new stores in 2008.

GameStop is due to hold a shareholders meeting tomorrow, June 24.
