DSi LL continues to top Japanese hardware chart

New entry Professor Layton dominates software sales

Sales of the new DSi LL dropped off this week in Japan, but the console still sold enough to keep it at the top of the hardware sales chart for a second week.

In total, 67,243 units were sold, down from 100,553 during its launch week. Wii sales rose to 46,673, which was just enough to knock the PlayStation 3, with 46,558 sales, into third position.

Performances of PSPgo and Xbox 360 remained poor, standing at 3809 and 3685 sales respectively.

Japan's software chart saw new entry Professor Layton and the Flute of Malevolent Destiny take the top spot from last week's number one Pokemon Heart Gold / Soul Silver. The DS title sold over 300,000 copies in its first week.

The only other new entry to the top ten was Momotaro Railway for Wii, which entered at number five.

Despite similar sales to the previous week, Pokemon sank to number three. Wii Sports Resort re-entered the top ten from 13 to nine.
