Dirk Dagger and the Fallen Idol

Press Release PROVIDED BY GAMES PRESS

Swedish game developer Jadestone announced today that its latest mobile game, Dirk Dagger and the Fallen Idol, has been released by Nokia. The game is available now on the N-Gage application, which runs on all N-Gage compatible handsets.

The game won the Best Gameplay award at the International Mobile Game Awards in Barcelona earlier this year. Now, all players who have been reading about it or played the demo can enjoy the full adventure.

Robert Henryson, CEO of Jadestone, comments: “Jadestone has been pushing the limits of mobile technoloy together with Nokia since 2002. With Dirk Dagger, we've worked as hard on classical storytelling as on innovative technical solutions. We’ve received great feedback from jury members and journalists, but now it’s in the hands of the people who really matter – players. Both I and the development team are eager to hear the reactions.”

The main gameplay is a loving reinvention of the adventure game genre for the mobile format. Players will get to know private eye Dirk Dagger, the main character of a mysterious crime story in the tradition of film noir movies. The somewhat haphazard investigations of our favorite detective take players on a humorous journey to solve the mystery of a stolen statue, a cold-blooded murder and an accidental penguin-related death.

During the course of the game, players also guide Dirk through a number of more or less whacky mini-games. For example, the player has to snap a photo of a character. The photo can then be used as incriminating evidence on behalf of a client.

A lot of efforts have been spent on adapting the adventure game genre for mobile phones. A unique one-button camera-based control allows players to view surroundings of the scenes in a more intuitive way. The high-quality rendering of the comic book like visuals of the game will appeal to players of all levels of experience in gaming.
