1st December 2008 -  Paris, France -  Darkworks, one of Europe's leading game development studios today announced that it has entered into an exclusive worldwide partnership with Trioviz to use and license its revolutionary 3D technology in videogames on PC and game consoles. The studio will be demonstrating the technology at the 3D Entertainment Summit in Los Angeles running from 1st-2nd December 2008.

The partnership allows Darkworks to use Trioviz technology in games to create fully 3D interactive experiences, on existing ordinary household TV's via a pair of special Trioviz glasses. Apart from these specific glasses, no other equipment is required.

As part of the partnership, Darkworks is also working on a SDK giving access to the technology to fellow game developers. The solution will be ported to consoles and be available for major game engines.

Darkworks will be demonstrating the technology on their joint booth with Trioviz which will feature some excerpt of nature documentary-style movies and a highly anticipated unreleased animated film based on a high profile IP.

The Trioviz solution can be used today on any movie or video that has been produced in stereoscopic 3-D or by using depth information contained in the images. For video games, specific information is polled from game data and used to produce the 3-D result in real-time. A wide range of parameters allows artistic directors and designers to easily get the visual result they need.

Christophe Brossier, CEO of Trioviz, points out the immense potential: "In the next few years, hundreds of millions of people will watch dozens of major Hollywood movies in thousands of cinemas equipped with 3-D digital projection technology - including highly anticipated big-budget movies from Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, James Cameron, Robert Zemeckis and Eric Brevig; concerts from National Geographic "U2-3D" as well as animated pictures from Walt Disney, DreamWorks and many other studios. The 3-D cinema release of a movie usually draws in three times more spectators than its 2-D version. Still, half of the total revenues of a Hollywood motion picture generally come from DVD sales. And until now, there was no way to release and sell a decent DVD version of a 3-D movie to the mass market. TRIOVIZ has solved that problem."
