Cyan Worlds lays off 50 testers

Employees made redundant following acquisition of main client Gamecock

Cyan Worlds has made almost 50 employees redundant following the acquisition of its main client Gamecock by Southpeak Games.

The testing group worked primarily on Gamecock titles, and is now left with only seven employees working on a handful of small projects, according to a report by Spokesmanreview.com.

At the start of the year, Turner canned Cyan's MMO Myst Online: Uru Live due to financial constraints, with the company's game development group "on hiatus" according to CEO Tony Fryman.

According to the report, Fryman has been pitching a new game project to a number of publishers, but none have yet committed to funding.
