Crytek to produce game for Wii

PS3, Xbox 360 plans also underway

Crytek, developer of forthcoming PC shooter Crysis, has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that it plans to produce games for consoles in future - including the Nintendo Wii.

"We have Wii development but it's very small, it's more like testing ideas. We don't have a project at this stage," said studio boss Cevat Yerli.

"Nintendo Wii is certainly on the radar, we will do something for Nintendo Wii - the question is when. I think some time maybe in three or four years, but nobody knows when."

Yerli's comments came during our visit to Crytek's Frankfurt studio, where he also revealed that there is a team dedicated to research and development for PlayStation 3.

"Our PS3 development is going deeper than many people assume right now," Yerli said.

"The PS3 room is separate because we have some secret technologies being developed there which are not related to CryEngine 2."

Crytek is also working with Xbox 360, according to Yerli, who went on to confirm that there is a console game already in development at Crytek.

"It's a complete departure from Crysis and Far Cry, it's not a first-person shooter," he explained.

"For that, we're optimising technology, but for another reason, the future in general, there is a dedicated PS3 team."

Part one and part two of the interview with Yerli are now on GamesIndustry.biz. An exclusive Crysis preview, screenshots and footage are available on Eurogamer.net.
