Criterion co-founder takes chairman role at Unity
Unity Technologies has announced the appointment of 15 year industry veteran David Lau-Kee as non-executive Chairman.
Lau-Kee was co-founder and president of Criterion Software and vice president of Electronic Arts, and has also held senior positions at Canon Europe.
"The last several years has brought a plethora of entrants into the videogame tools and middleware sector, but Unity is the only company I have found that has the technology, the people and the strategy to be truly transformational," commented Lau-Kee
"Our community loves our Mac-based development platform, and we confirmed and demonstrated Unity for Windows at the yearly Unity developer conference in October. Mark my words, the democratisation of the games industry has begun."
Lau-Kee will help the company expand further, specifically concentrating on growth in the US and Asian markets.
The Unity development tools for 3D games for the web, desktop, mobile and consoles already have a strong following in Europe, and recently gained the endorsement of Atari president and ex-Sony development boss Phil Harrison.
