Crispy Gamer fires editorial team

CEO also quits in protest following board decision, says report

Online games media website Crispy Gamer has terminated the employment of its entire editorial team with immediate effect, according to reports.

The site, which previously raised $8.25 million from JP Morgan's Constellation ventures, include six writers, the managing editor and chief marketing officer - while CEO Chris Helder also quit the company in protest at the action, reports Joystiq.

Last month the company acquired social networking tool GamerDNA in a bid to increase user engagement, but according to Venturebeat the site's traffic had been in decline.

Among the site's aims was a promise to guarantee editorial independence by not taking any commercial money from videogames companies.

It's unclear whether or not the site will continue to run, or will be shut down, and no official comment from the board has yet been made. The last story to be published, a piece by James Fudge on Tiger Woods Online, signs off with the lines: "This is the last story I will ever write here. Good night and good luck."
