Christian Game Developers Conference 2008

Press Release PROVIDED BY GAMES PRESS

Plans are solidifying for this year's Christian Game Developers Conference with a plateful of speakers, workshops, expo time and more. Of the speakers, we'll hear from Jay Moore of The Strategery Group, Ken Kavanagh of ClickToy Interactive, Scott Wong of Brethren Entertainment, and Chris Skaggs of Soma Games.

Some of the workshops will be Shem Bingman - QA:

Wisdom or Waste?, Tim Reddington - How We Can Fund Missions Via Entertainment, Ed Armstrong - Creating AI-Bots in Multiplayer Games, Laurene Wells of Heaven's Blessings Tiny Zoo - Virtual Team of Volunteers, Charlie Mauck - The Dev

Challenge: Quickly Creating Value, Dan Olds - Creatively Glorifying God, and Jerry Moore - Game Design.

The conference also incorporates discussion groups and panels. Some specific topics for these are Game Evangelism, the Life Cycle of a Bug, and State of the Industry. Be sure to monitor  http://cgdc.org/ for updates as well as for the final schedule.

Another exciting feature this year is the "first ever public" showing of Dan Olds' latest movie, "Song Man". "Song Man" is the story of a young Jewish man, David, an out of work musician struggling with life, love, and faith, who's unaware that people all over the world are following his music and spiritual journey through the songs he writes; among them, a couple of contract killers trying to prevent him from claiming the inheritance that rightfully belongs to him. The film features the biblical card game "Prophecy", which Dan created and is published by Epos Entertainment.

You can register now at http://cgdc.org/ or attend the event and register there. Thanks to our generous sponsors to help minimize costs, the conference fees are affordable - $75 for two days or less or $90 for all three days. These fees cover all your meals and food for the event as well as the infrastructure costs. Plus, you'll get a T-shirt and printed program. Affordable on-campus housing is available and offers the attendees maximum opportunity to fellowship and socialize. For students, we do have scholarship opportunities that cover the conference fees, but not travel nor housing. When registering, follow the instructions for requesting a scholarship.

For anyone registering, you do not have to pay during the online registration process if you plan on paying at the conference, just select "Send a check". We request that everyone register immediately to aid in arranging logistics.

To help spread the word, a poster is available to post at your game studio, college or community bulletin board. Please follow the link to download and print it out.
