CDV Software Entertainment has signed a deal with Hungarian developer Digital Reality to establish a new studio which will produce strategy games for next-generation consoles and handhelds.

CDV Software Entertainment has signed a deal with Hungarian developer Digital Reality to establish a new studio which will produce strategy games for next-generation consoles and handhelds.

The new company will operate under the name Whiz Software Kft. The studio's first game is slated to ship in Q4 2007; more details are to be announced shortly.

"CDV's range of experience in publishing strategy titles, combined with Digital Reality's outstanding development work within the genre, will allow Whiz Software to lead the charge for bringing strategy games onto new platforms," said CDV CEO Christoph Syring.

"Whiz Software Kft will develop titles that will take advantage of the advanced features of next-generation consoles and handhelds, aiming to raise the bar for strategy titles, an often overlooked genre on both platforms."

CDV is best known for publishing PC titles such as Codename: Panzers, Cossacks and the Blitzkrieg series, and is also set to publish Digital Reality title War Front: Turning Point this autumn. Digital Reality was established in 1991 and is now the largest developer in Hungary.
