Capcom has appointed former Autodesk executive Charles Bellfield to the management team in the role of vice president of marketing for the publisher's USA headquarters.

Bellfield will oversee the company's strategic and operational marketing efforts, including publicity, customer service, e-commerce, web promotions and brand and product management. The move is described as key to Capcom's strategy of building on its portfolio of original franchises.

Bellifield has worked in marketing and communications for more than 13 years, which includes a stint as senior VP at Edelman PR. He also spent five years as VP of strategy and corporate affairs for SEGA of America, where he led the marketing campaign for the launch of the Dreamcast and was later responsible for corporate communications as the company moved away from console production. Most recently, Bellfield was global head of communications at Autodesk, Inc.

"Charles' expertise and passion is a welcome addition to our strong management team as well as the Capcom global family," said Capcom president Hiroshi Tobisawa.

"As we look to expand our North American presence, he will be instrumental in driving our consumer marketing campaigns and outreach in order to meet our worldwide objective of continued growth."
