Call of Duty: World at War hits 11 million sales

Sales boost for title following release of second Map Pack

Activision and Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War has sold over 11 million units since launch last November.

The game has just received the second of its Map Packs for download to consoles, following the first Map Pack which itself sold two million copies.

"These outstanding feats would have never been possible without the continued dedication and support from all of the loyal Call of Duty fans," said Treyarch.

"For that, we at Treyarch and Activision would like to extend our sincerest 'thank you'. We're honoured and humbled to have one of the greatest online communities in videogame history behind our products."

Yesterday, analyst firm Janco Partners estimated the forthcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will sell 11.1 million units in the fiscal year.
