Call of Duty 4 hits over 14 million players

Robert Bowling, community manager for Infinity Ward, has detailed online user figures for its blockbuster title Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

As of January 3, the studio hit 10,006,606 unique users who have played the FPS on Xbox 360 and have since connected to Xbox Live. This was also matched by a figure for the PlayStation 3 at 4,381,276 unique users, which was limited to the number of multiplayer games played.

"Now keep in mind, these are only players on Xbox 360 (who have also connected to Xbox Live at least once)," he explained. "So there are more than this playing Call of Duty 4, we just can't track them. For PS3, we pulled MP-numbers only,"

Bowling published a break down of the Xbox 360 numbers on his blog, revealing what percentage of players completed which parts of the game.
