Blizzard confirms new MMO underway

Job post speculation confirmed by company community representative

A Blizzard community representative has confirmed on the US World of Warcraft forums that a number of jobs advertised by the company are for a new MMO project that isn't connected to World of Warcraft.

The job posts on the Blizzard website listed openings for a lead 3D character artist and lead 3D environment artist for a "Next-Gen MMO" and while speculation on the forums linked it to the World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, the situation was clarified by a community rep.

"No, it is an unannounced Next-Gen MMO. And that doesn't mean an expansion for World of Warcraft either."

No further details have come from Blizzard at this point. The Wrath of the Lich King expansion is due in 2008.
