BioShock sales boost Take Two in Q4

Carnival Games also helps publisher at year end

Take-Two has announced fourth quarter sales of USD 292.6 million, due to strong sales of BioShock, Carnival Games and NBA 2K8.

However, sales were down to 981.8 million for the full financial year, compared to USD 1.04 billion in 2006, but losses also fell from USD 184.9 million to USD 138.4 million.

"Fiscal 2007 was a year of progress for Take-Two, capped by better-than-expected bottom line financial performance in the fourth quarter," commented Strauss Zelnick, chairman of Take Two.

"The company has benefited from initiatives to streamline operations and improve our cost structure, while continuing to expand our portfolio of powerful videogame franchises."

BioShock has so far shipped over two million units while Wii title Carnival Games has shipped 500,000 copies, with Take-Two stating it now intends to release a version for the DS.

The publisher has a healthy portfolio of releases due in 2008 including Grand Theft Auto IV, Midnight Club: Los Angeles and Top Spin 3.

"Take-Two enters fiscal 2008 with the strongest, most diverse product line-up in out history â" much of it internally developed and owned IP â" which positions us well for the continued growth of the interactive entertainment market," added Bed Feder, CEO of Take-Two.
