Bigpoint to publish RuneScape in France, Germany

Jagex releasing four games through indie service DevLounge

Bigpoint is to publish French and German versions of popular fantasy browser game RuneScape through its indie games service DevLounge.

Earlier this month Bigpoint's COO Nils-Holger Henning told GamesIndustry.biz that the DevLounge already had around 200 developers signed up to publish their titles to the company's 120 million registered users.

"Bigpoint has achieved phenomenal success in France and Germany echoing our own success in the USA, UK and other English speaking territories so we are confident that RuneScape will be an excellent addition to their games portal," commented Jagex' head of online strategy Oliver Kern.

Bigpoint will be responsible for publishing the game, marketing and payment processing in the new regions. Jagex said that three more titles will follow – War of Legends, Arcanists and Armies of Gielinor.

"As one of the top-three game portals in the world, we strive to publish compelling content that gives players a wide range of gaming options – RuneScape is an excellent example of this strategy in action," said Lothar Eckstein, CMO of Bigpoint.
