Bigpoint acquires Radon Labs

Drakensang developer becomes Bigpoint Berlin as company kicks off acquisition spree

Browser games specialist Bigpoint has announced the acquisition of Drakensang developer Radon Labs, along with 35 of its staff.

The developer had recently filed for bankruptcy, but the turnaround will put managing directors Bernd Beyreuther and Andre Blechschmidt as directors of the studio, renamed Bigpoint Berlin.

"Under Bernd and Andre's leadership, Radon Labs became one Germany's top three development studios. We're excited to add their highly qualified workforce to Bigpoint as we continue to push the limits of what's possible in online gaming," offered Heiko Hubertz, CEO of Bigpoint.

"This acquisition is also greater proof that the market continues to consolidate. As such, we plan to purchase additional studios, both in Germany and abroad, to support our long-term growth," he added.

Bigpoint said that Drakensang 3 will be released sometime in 2011.
