Atari appoints new chief financial officer

Former News Corporation exec Philip Veneziano joins company

Atari has appointed a new chief financial officer to its ranks, naming former News Corporation vice president Philip Veneziano as the latest exec addition to the company.

Veneziano joins Atari following a lengthy career in accounting and finance, during which he has held roles that include VP of Finance-Fox Television Stations. Most recently, Veneziano served as VP of finance for TheLadders.com, an online career services firm.

In his new role, which begins immediately, he will report directly to Atari CEO and president Jim Wilson.

"I am pleased to bring Philip to our executive leadership team at a pivotal time in Atari's strategic growth plan. His deep experience working with both blue-chip and emerging companies will benefit our organisation as we continue to build Atari's future roadmap," said Wilson.

"I look forward to working with the Atari team as it continues to take advantage of its growth opportunity in North America," added Veneziano. "This company, which is recognised internationally as a leader in entertainment software, presents a tremendous opportunity to gain market share."
