AMD: PC gaming "healthy"
AMD's senior vice president and general manager, Rick Bergman, has said he believes PC gaming is "healthy", adding: "sales at the high-end continue to astound me."
Speaking to VentureBeat, Bergman was asked if he thought the platform was still a healthy one for games, to which he pointed to the success of titles such as World of Warcraft.
"There is a very compelling story on why PC gaming is so healthy now," Bergman explained. "When you consider shipments of high-end gaming rigs and strong sales of online games such as World of Warcraft, you can see how strong it is. Sales at the high-end continue to astound me."
Blizzard recently announced that its MMO hit over 11 million subscribers worldwide and that the title's latest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, sold more than 2.8 million copies in its first day - outstripping the console blockbuster Gears of War 2's sales of 2 million over its first weekend.
